[Bites his bottom lip and forces a smile, shrugging.] Or who my parents were either, so I dunno.

What’s it like? [Bites his bottom lip, pauses, opens his mouth and then quickly shuts it.] … Awesome. Like, really, really awesome. You’re in charge of a bunch of people and keeping them happy and safe, it’s a great feeling. [Grins.] Plus, I can like do whatever I want!

Well, a lot of the butlers and stuff try to, and it’s nice having people cook and clean for you but, ugh, they can be such a pain. Trying to teach ‘responsibility’. Selzauide chose me to be the prince so clearly I’m responsible. I mean, who would argue with a giant dragon! [Rolls his eyes.] But I mean, they don’t listen to me anyways, so, whatever. But I like doing my own thing. I know what I’m doing, so they just gotta trust me, right?

Frey rolled her eyes, grinning. “Whatever!” She laughed, reaching up to pat Lest’s head. “We all know about your little problem, no need to make a big deal about it♪” She teased, a smile on her face.

“Ohhhh you got lucky!” Frey protested, balling up her fists. “I’ll getcha one day!” She grinned. “Laundry?” Her mouth fell open at her friend’s proposal, but a sly smil crept on her face after a moment. “Deal!” Frey nodded, crossing her arms and she was filled with excitement. She hadn’t been exploring anywhere lately, so it would be nice to do it again, especially with her friend by her side. Besides, she was sure she would win, so that made her even more excited about the coming events.

Lest tilted his head and his eyes looked up in curiosity. “My little problem, what are you even talking about?” He asked, biting his bottom lip, now dreadfully anxious and curious about what she could be referencing.

“Luck’s got nothing to do with it.” The blonde said in a rather smug tone, tossing his head. “So it’s a deal. Perfect.” He extended his hand to shake on the deal, a sly grin playing at the corners of his mouth. “This should be interesting. Should we go now that it’s nice in dark?” He asked, tilting his head up towards the darkened night sky. “Unless you still want to chicken out.”

So I guess it is my element…? I probably should have explained myself better. [pauses, thinking for a moment before she holds her finger out and a small flame appears above it] See?

Good! [Nods and grins, clearly happy with her reaction.] Wh-Whaaat? You can? No way! That’s so cool! I mean I’m an earthmate but growing… [Scrunches his nose.] Vegatables isn’t as cool as controlling fire! [Watches in amazement as she produces the fire above her finger.]

A teasing grin materialized on Frey’s face, and she giggled. “You sounded insane! It was all echo-ey, and stuff!” She protested with wide eyes. “I will believe that I am right!” She raised her eyebrows, waving her index finger tauntingly at her friend. “Yeah, we’ll see who needs saving when we go!” She teased, throwing Lest a wink.

“Oh, don’t you lie to me!” She said, putting her hands on her hips and fixing Lest with a look. “I’ll send Selzauide after you!” She said, thinking fondly of the dragon who let the two of them live in her castle for some reason. “…The Obsidian Mansion?” Frey paused, but nodded. “Deal!” She scoffed, a wry smile on her face. “I think you should speak for yourself!” She retorted playfully, shaking her head.

“Insane?” Lest scoffed, giving Frey a rather judgmental look. “Is that what having fun sounds like to you? Insane? You gotta get out more.” He eyed her waving index finger and reached out to grab it between his index finger and thumb, holding on to it, making in impossible to wave. “Don’t worry, you can thank me for saving you later.” He added releasing her finger and giving a small laugh.

“I’m not lying!” Lest said, turning his head off to the side and rolling his eyes. “Like Selzauide would do anything about it — you’ve got no proof anyways.” His eyes sparkled when she accepted his challenge, his body already feeling the rush of adrenaline. “Okay, well, how about we make it interesting?” Lest proposed, folding his arms across his chest in a smug manner, and turning to look back at the princess. “Whoever gets scared first has to do the other one’s laundry for a week.”

Frey nodded, speaking seriously, although she had to hold back a laugh, which she did unsuccessfully. “Well, what would you do if you thought a crazy person was running through your kingdom? And… Yeah! I’d getcha!” Frey grinned and poked him in the tummy playfully. Her mouth fell open. “Save me?” She protested, swatting Lest’s shoulder. “No way!”

“Thanks!” The princess replied happily, glad to see her friend again after so long. “Lemme guess, you sneaked out of the palace like a spy.” Frey said flatly, a smug smile on her face. “Oh, adventuring?” Frey’s excitement grew, and her mouth fell open when Lest questioned her skill at adventuring. “Scared? Never!” Frey said proudly, although she was a bit unsure. She hadn’t been exploring when she was gone, so she was a little out of practice. But Lest didn’t need to know that! “I’m not scared of anything!

“A crazy person?” The prince repeated, placing his hands on his hips and letting out a loud huff. “Yeah yeah, whatever you want to believe.” He added in a rather mocking tone. He recoiled as the princess poked him in the stomach and he let out a small laugh. “Yeah, don’t you know princesses are the ones that always need saving?”

His eyes widened in astonishment. It was clear the princess knew him quite well. Maybe too well. “Pssh, no. I’m the prince, I don’t need to sneak out, I can leave whenever.” Lest lied, avoiding eye contact with Frey. He turned back to her with a grin at the mention of adventuring. “Really? You think so? Well then, let’s go to the Obsidian Mansion then. That is, if you’re not too scared.” Lest suggested, wiggling his fingers towards the princess’s face in an attempt to scare her.

Blinking a few times after being knocked to the ground, Frey nodded and stood up. “Yeah, I’m fine.” She chuckled. “I was ready to attack you and everything!” Her eyes widened, and she returned her weapon to its holster. “You did get me~! I forgive you, though♪” She dusted herself off with a laugh. “Oh, please! Those monsters wouldn’t know what hit ‘em!” She waved her index finger at Lest, a giggle bubbling from her lips.

“Besides, I was just walking home, nothing too awful.” She looked Lest up and down, curious why he looked like he was about to go search a dungeon. “Why are you up right now? And why do you look so ready for the day, when it’s…” Frey gazed up at the sky, filled with stars twinkling down at them. “Now?”

The prince chuckled and tossed his head back at Frey’s response. “You were going to attack me, huh, really? You think you’d get me?” He asked in a mocking tone, raising his brow as he looked at the princess. “You forgive me?” He chuckled again and his features softened, now glad to be in the presence of his old friend. ”Yeah, because I’d be there to save your sorry butt.” He teased as he swatted at the index finger pointed towards him.

“Well, welcome back.” Lest said with a smile. “Er, right now? Well, I couldn’t sleep, so I decided to come out for a walk, nothing too exciting.” He admitted, shrugging his shoulders. “But now that you mention it, maybe I should do something more exciting. I mean, night time is just the same as day time except… Dark.” He said, nodding along with his unmatched wisdom. “I’d invite you to come, but you’d probably just get scared.”

Wandering around the kingdom in the dead of night, Frey held only a small bag, in which some clothes were stored haphazardly along with a small bag of money in case she needed it. She was finally back from a long trip away, and it was nice to be back in the kingdom she loved so much. She paused when a breeze gusted her pigtails around, and strands of citrine hair got in her eyes that nearly matched the shade of her hair. She flicked the strands out of her face and continued on her way.The soft “pat pat” of her footsteps against the streets was her only company, and she decided to wander around a bit more before returning her home, wanting to see the stars a bit longer. As she strolled, she hummed quietly to herself a melody she’d heard while she was away.

The peace was not long-lasting, as soon Frey heard a maniacal laughter echoing thorough the kingdom, headed her way, accompanied by heavy footsteps. Thinking it to be a vandal or something, the princess pulled out the small dagger she kept strapped to her leg if she didn’t carry her sword or magical items. She looked around warily, holding the sharp dagger out, looking around. She turned around, hearing the laughter get closer and closer, but she saw nobody approaching until something slammed into her from behind, knocking her down. She looked to see who her attacker was, and a grin came to her face when she saw who it was.

“Lest?”

His laughter had died down to a constant chuckle, still in high spirits about his ‘amazing escape’ from the palace. Lest had continued running down the stone paths of the kingdom, and he had not bothered looking ahead of him - who would be out at this time of night anyways? He soon answered his own question as he collided with something, no, someone on his way down the streets. Recoiling from the collision, the prince took a few steps backwards, trying to figure out just what had happened. “I— Uh! Sorry! Are you alright?” He asked, panic seeping from his voice.

But his face lit up with recognition when he saw the familiar face before him call out his name. “F-Frey?!” He paused, before bursting out in a fit of laughter. “Man! Did I ever get you good! That was a total body-check I even knocked you over!” His laughter soon died down and the prince wiped his eyes that had gathered tears from his fit. “What are you even doing out here at night?” He questioned, tilting his head and giving the princess a sly smirk. “Don’t you know this is when all the SCARY monsters come out?” Lest raised his hands to his head like they were claws, and imitated a monsters growling, a coy grin on his face as he stepped cautiously towards Frey.

Well! [Takes it into his free hand, turning it around. I used some gold, and ruby again… I had lots of those left over. And a fire crystal! For that added magic boost thing. [Nods, as if what he said was a completely scholarly answer.] But, n-no, really! You should take it I mean… After all, I wouldn’t of been able to make it without your help… So yeah! [Hold the broach out towards her.] Think of it as a thank you!

The prince let himself fall backwards into the comfort of his bed, wiggling his way under his sheets. After a content sigh, he turned his pillow over, and put his head down, ready to sleep. But after only a few short moments, his eyes shot open and it was clear there was no way he was going to drift off any time soon. Grumbling, and sitting himself up on the bed, Lest stared out the window, trying to get an idea of the time. The sun was long gone, and stars lit up the sky of Selphia. He smiled at the sight, and lifted himself out of the bed, deciding now would be a perfect time for a walk. He slipped on his outer armor and reached for his boots, placing on on his foot and hopping around rather awkwardly as he tried to slip on the other. Lest peeked his head out the door, checking to make sure he didn’t alert anyone with his noise, and he slowly and carefully made his way downstairs and to the front door. His movements were exaggerated and dramatic, as if he believed he was some sort of secret spy escaping an enemy hideout.

But eventually he found his way to the door, and as he heaved it open, a loud creak echoed through the halls. Started by the noise, Lest bolted out of the palace, the door closing itself behind it’s own weight. Laughing and running as fast as he could, the prince took off into the streets of the Kingdom, now more full of energy then ever.
